Educational Collaborative serving students with special needs
Founded in 1975, the Northshore Education Consortium (NEC) was one of the first regional educational collaboratives in Massachusetts and was established to bring together resources from member school districts to develop and deliver educational programs and services for students with learning, developmental and emotional-behavioral challenges. Today NEC is the largest provider of intensive special education services to children on the North Shore. Consisting of six highly specialized and innovative programs, NEC's mission is to make a difference in the lives of students and their families on the North Shore. This mission is carried out day in and day out as more than 250 staff educate, support and nurture over 350 special needs and at-risk students from 20 member districts and 25 other districts throughout Northeastern Massachusetts.
